Who I am

This website, dwang.co, is operated by Douglas Wang, on behalf of a consulting business ("I", "me"). Questions or requests about your information: hello@dwang.co.

What this site is

A marketing site for my consulting work. As of the date above it has no accounts, sign-up, newsletter or checkout. You can optionally book a call.

What may be collected, and why

Visit analytics (PostHog). When you load a page, the site generally sends PostHog the page address (including any text after a "?"), your browser and device type, the page you came from, and a rough location that may be estimated from your IP address. It also records a few actions: opening a case study, using the writing filter (which topic, not what you type), clicking a related article, clicking a button that leads to the booking step (which button, and which card if it is one of the "Three ways to work together"), opening or closing a card in the “Off the clock” section of the About page (which card), the first time that section scrolls into view (skipped if your device asks for reduced motion), completing the short intake step, and completing a booking. For the intake step and a booking I record which button you clicked to get there, which card if any, the topic you picked and whether you filled in the optional "what have you tried" box, not what you wrote. As configured on the date above, this site's analytics is set up not to place cookies or save an identifier in your browser. PostHog may still receive your IP address, so visits are not fully anonymous. I use this to understand which content is useful and to keep the site working.

Booking a call (Calendly). The scheduler is Calendly's, embedded in this page, and it is set up to start loading in the background, without any of your text, as soon as you click into one of the two short fields on this page, so it is ready faster when you continue. Calendly collects the details you enter (such as your name, email, company website and answers) and shares them with me. Calendly's own privacy notice governs how it handles them, and it may set cookies when the scheduler loads. The text you type into the two short fields on this page is not intended to be part of the analytics events I set up. When you continue, that text, plus the name of the work-together card you clicked (if any), is sent to Calendly inside the scheduler's web address so it can pre-fill its form. Calendly's servers may log that address, it may appear in your browser history, and the "open it in a new tab" link contains the same text. Please do not include confidential or sensitive information. I use booking details to prepare for and hold our conversation, to reply to you, and to keep my business records.

Error monitoring (Sentry). If something breaks, diagnostic details (such as the error message, the page address, your browser and device type, and your IP address) may be sent to Sentry so I can fix the problem. I do not intend to send personal information this way.

Hosting (Vercel). The site is hosted by Vercel, which generally keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses and the addresses requested.

An image on the About page. One image loads directly from the seller's website (Superare), which may receive your IP address and browser details when it loads.

Email. If you email me, I receive your address and whatever you send, and I use it to reply.

Links and outside services. Links to other sites (for example LinkedIn) leave this site, and their own policies apply. I do not control the settings, practices or changes of third-party services.

Websites generally receive the IP address of anyone who connects to them, and the services above are no exception.

Cookies

As configured on the date above, this site is set up not to place cookies or store identifiers in your browser. The embedded Calendly scheduler may set its own after you click through to it.

Do Not Track

As of the date above, this site does not change how it works in response to "Do Not Track" or similar browser signals.

My reasons for using your information (UK/EU visitors)

My legitimate business interests (understanding how the site is used, keeping it working and secure); taking steps you ask for before a contract (booking a call); and your consent where the law requires it.

Other uses

I may also use or share information where I reasonably believe it is needed to comply with the law or a legal request, to protect the security of the site, to protect or enforce my rights or those of others, to establish or defend legal claims, or in connection with a sale or reorganization of my business.

Who receives it

PostHog (analytics), Sentry (error monitoring), Vercel (hosting) and Calendly (scheduling) process information to provide their services to me. As of the date above, I do not sell personal information, and I have not set up advertising integrations on this site.

Where it goes

These providers may process information in the United States and other countries, whose privacy laws may differ from yours.

How long I keep it

Analytics and error data are kept according to each provider's settings. I keep booking and email records for as long as I reasonably need them for my business and legal records. Calendly and the other providers keep information under their own policies.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights such as asking to see, correct or delete your information, to object to or restrict its use, to receive a copy, or to withdraw consent. Email hello@dwang.co. I aim to reply within 30 days, or any shorter period the law requires, and may need to confirm it is you. If you are in the UK or EU you may also be able to complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

This site is intended for adults seeking consulting information and is not directed at children.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect information, but no system is completely secure and I cannot guarantee security.

Changes

When practices change I will update this page and the date at the top.
